October has been one of the very best months this year!
Lovely weather, not cold, not too warm!
A dash of rain but not bad.
Ira and I just came home from a walk,
no need for jacket and I could have had shorts on!
I simply love this place!
I was away 3 night on my Athens trip,
all cats were fed at home twice a day,
– Sorry was seen, but I have not seen her?
Where is she?
She has never left home since she just showed up
here one day in 2014 a bit beaten up!
She was the one who were nutered twice.
Normally when you have a cat nutered,
a small tip of the ear is cut off,
– telling us all the it is nutered.
Sorry did not have that,
so I took her to the vet,
– but she was done!
I feel I have too many cats, but if one shows up,
I can not send it away.
All ca 20 are fed, but only 5 are fed inside.
I spend more money on catfood than on my own food!
Some Skopelos now;
I spoke with a neighbor who has a land behind my home yesterday, he said that the olive harvest is bad. He found very few that was worth to save for “eating” olives.
But that the oil that has been pressed is ok.
I see lots of olives on many trees, but the quality?
So many of the tavernas here in town are closed,
so I was happy to hear that Magali will be open.
They just need to close for a few days, due to getting clean and ready for the winter.
Korali in Agnondas is still open for this weekend,
and on the 28th, the OXI day,
but will close after that,
I have been told!
I love Agnondas!
My trip to Athens was not pleasure,
here are some gimpes;
I worked many years for Gullivers Reiser,
so when I saw a bar called Gulliver, I just had to visit.
That I did after “my Athen mission” was completed.
I had to have laser treatment in my face and
chest, due to sun damages.
Not in order to get more beautiful, but to make sure
“things” that might cause cancer went away!
It was painful, but the funny thing was the Laser;
I was distracted by the name on the laser
NORDLYS – NORTHERNLIGHT
Anyway the Doc told me that the Nordlys is sold
to a big company in America.
On the flight home;
I used to love the beach, see my arrow, in 1981 and 1982
when I was a “normal” tourist at Skiathos, with Gullivers Reiser!
The beach was runned by the 2 Kostas, the menu was simple
fish they had fished and salad mostly,
and there was plenty of beer, wine and water!
If we were lucky we got a lift back with the Kostas speedboat!
Unfortunately both the one in Skiathos and
the one here are left, the owners are gone!
But one “still alive” on Skyros!
Saw it at the Carnival!
A few cuttings;
For the end of this page, here is my translation;
“For those who cry for everything I prefer those who laugh at nothing!”
Have a lovely rest of the weekend!
From Skopelos with love!
Sometimes one has to go off the island, me for a skin treatment, in order to «clean» up all the sundamages I have got after all this years in the sun!
As you can see up here Skopelos, Loutraki & Skiathos.
A walk on Skiathos town, then lunch with good old friends in the old harbor.
Ouzo, tzipourou ….
We had dinner too, at Bakaliko, and there the delishious Mussles in Mustard Sauce and other dellies. Great!
Norwegian Jens who I met first time in 1980, Oddvar in 1982, I think, and Kostas, a part of the Greek Connection, Gullivers agents in Skiathos.
I love these boys!
I walked to the airport Wednesday morning and flew to Athens.
The weather is so nice and warm, is this an «Indian Summer»?
It is OK here in Athens too, but I long for my island in the sun.
Just got a message from Ira, she is having a great time in Panormos with Silje!
I be home on Friday and then I hope to stay a loooong looong time, – hoping for Music Lunch at Karidia on Sunday. They will open for their winter program on Friday, bravo! Many places are closed in Skopelos now.
Kalimera from lovely Skopelos!
Sunny today but last week we had a thunderstorm
with big hail on parts of the island.
Lots of olives destroyed, but still some left on the trees.
Pictures over here from “The Monastery Hill”
I was so happy to see that the small church is being renovated, thansk a lot!
The last pic is ruins of an old tower, just behind the church.
Here are some of the views
Back in town
When I moved to Skopelos in 1983 this was the place for nightlife;
It closed in 1984, I think, was for a short time a Italian Restaurant, but has just been left alone since. Now it seams like somebody is doing something there.
What will happen?
Some of my babies;
I am fashinated by ruins;
A page typically me, no people!!!
I love flowers and food;
Sunday today, and we will go for the last lunch this year at
“To steki mou” the International Cafe!
Many places are closed.
Most people has to pick olives now.
Long time befor a proper rest.
So very very tiering to work 7 days a week for ca 7 months,
no day off!
Nice welcome sign on the way to the “lower” Skyros town, Magazía. But as here not all kept the island clean. Τι να κáνοθμε; Ti na kanoume? What can we do?
Keep our islands clean!
Keep your road clean!
Keep the world clean!
If you pick up 3 items of garbage every day,
IT WILL MATTER!!!
I got home from Skyros last night,
easy travel this time; Skyros-Kymi with ferry Achileas,
drove 3 hours Xalkida-Manthoudi, had a walk and a sleep,
then came ferry Proteus who took us to Glossa.
Anyway it was an 11 hours trip in the lovely sunshine!
Some more of Skyros, a fantastic island;
I was so happy that I finally could see Palamari,
it impressed me so much. How they 5000 years ago
made these homes and fortifications,
– where were we then?
Something very unusual happened with this group,
we had 4 Norwegians “Singing Boys”
and I promise you they could sing,
we were all so amazed!
Kyria Efrosini has the Deidamia Hotel where we had 10 very happy guests,
and kyria Katherina at Antigoni had 15, again, very happy guests!
The last one, I did not manage to find any way down there.
So sad, it was very close to our hotel.
It is said to be a nudist beach!
Probably a landfall has closed the road down there!
(Some locals said that nudism is not allowed,
so somebody up there closed the beach!)
Some picks from around my walks;
I love blue windows nd doors, and there are many of them on Skyros!
On Skopelos we have the boat Ena/1 and on Skyros
they have the lovely small taverna 2/Dio.
A very nice place, very close to our hotel.
It once was a home and it has a small church connected to it.
The “Singing Boys” was singing in both places.
So you understand I had a good time again on Skyros,
but it was very good to come home too!
