I love making a nice table, it does not happen often here!

We had marinated herring from IKEA, rakafisk (cured trout) from Nordfjord for starters (thanks to Elisabeth & F) and as you saw my famous JulSkinka that I learned to make when I lived and got married in Gotenburg, 100 of years ago, in another life!

Ending it off with CloudBerry Cream, – thank you Beate!

Christmas day now, and I have just been out with the woffies at 06.40, and the sky is full of stars so nice and quiet. We will have another lovely day.

 The lunch as usual at my Brithish friends up from Kambos, so nice because the food is so completely different from what I make, and sooo good!

All the best and be nice!

Smilax -Greenbriar

151226 076
Mediterranean Smilax aspera –
I think!

I have seen and photographed this remarkable plant
many times, but did not know the name.
Have looked it up before, today I found it.
Wikipedia says;
“Greenbriers get their scientific name from the Greek myth of Crocus and the nymph Smilax.[5] Though this myth has numerous forms, it always centers around the unfulfilled and tragic love of a mortal man who is turned into a flower, and a woodland nymph who is transformed into a brambly vine.”

I love Greek myths!
One of them is Mythos;

“Greece;
15021 kms of mythical coastline.
6000 mythical islands and islets.
2884 hours/year of mythical sunshine.
1 Mythical Beer.”

“Stine Ja Mas, vre Pedia!”

Christmasboat

& some of my 4-legged friends and more

151221 042
In Greece, specially on the islands, it is an old tradition to decorate a small boat, Karavaki, not a tree. I am so happy this year for the first time I did decorate my small wooden boat, and I love the sight of it!
On the mainland this tradition is rather new,
only the last 30 years.
Greeks are aware of that X-mas tree is not a Greek tradition,
it is said that Greece’s 1st king; Bavarian Otto,
brought it with him in 1833.

I can not remember to have seen any here
my 1st Xmas in 1983, but slowly it appeared.
Actually I did not see much Christmas then at all!

Here are some of my olds photos of X-masses;
